House of Commons Committee Invites the Public to Submit Written Briefs for Its Review of Bill C-319

Ottawa, February 1, 2024 -

The House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities is undertaking a study of Bill C-319, An Act to amend the Old Age Security Act (amount of full pension).

Bill C-319 was introduced in the House of Commons on 8 March 2023. The bill would amend the Old Age Security Act to increase the full pension amount by 10% and raise the exemption for employment or self-employment income to $6,500.

The Committee invites members of the public to submit written briefs no longer than 5 pages (approximately 2,500 words) for consideration in the study. For more information on how to prepare a submission, please consult the Guide for Submitting Briefs to House of Commons Committees.

The deadline for the Committee to receive written briefs from the public is Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (ET). Briefs may be submitted electronically to the Committee Clerk at HUMA@parl.gc.ca or submitted online through the Committee’s study page of its website.
