On 24 February 2022, Russia initiated a large-scale military assault on Ukraine, a peaceful and democratic nation, violating its sovereignty and territorial integrity and imperiling its people.

The Members of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development are united in opposition against these deeply troubling events and what they represent. Russia has chosen to initiate a war in Europe, undermining decades of peace and prosperity, challenging the international rules-based order, and violating international law – including the United Nations Charter.

The Members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development condemn Russia’s military assault on Ukraine in the strongest possible terms and stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. We call for an immediate withdrawal of all Russian military and paramilitary forces from Ukraine and the full restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty.
