Michelle Rempel moved, — That the Chairman of the Immigration and Refugee Board table, with the Committee, his plan to address the 65 000-case inventory for processing.
Debate arose thereon.
Nick Whalen moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “table, with the Committee,” with the words “appear before the Committee to discuss”.
Debate arose thereon.
Michelle Rempel moved, — That the amendment be amended by adding after the word “processing” the following: “before the House adjourns on Friday, December 14, 2018”.
Debate arose thereon.
After debate, the question was put on the subamendment of Michelle Rempel and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 4; NAYS: 5.
The debate on the amendment of Nick Whalen continued
Jenny Kwan moved, — That the amendment be amended by adding after the word “processing” the following: “one week after the completion of the report”.

After debate, the question was put on the subamendment of Jenny Kwan and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 4; NAYS: 5.
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Nick Whalen and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 4.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That the Chairman of the Immigration and Refugee Board appear before the Committee to discuss his plan to address the 65 000-case inventory for processing.
Questioning of the witness resumed.
ORDERED, — That the Chair present a report to the House that the Committee has examined the qualifications and competence of Richard Wex to the position of Chairperson of the Immigration and Refugee Board and finds him competent to perform the duties of his position.
