The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:09 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, James Bezan, Larry Miller, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Joe Preston, Paul Szabo and Merv Tweed.

 

Other Members present: Steven Blaney, Hon. Hedy Fry, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and Rodney Weston.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services; Gilles Larocque, Senior Financial Advisor. Standing Committee on Official Languages: Isabelle Dumas, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans: Travis Ladouceur, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on the Status of Women: Julia Lockhart, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage: Richard Dupuis, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst.

 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be granted a travel budget of $112,259 to travel to Resolute Bay and Iqaluit, Nunavut; Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador; La Tuque, Quebec and Fredericton, New Brunswick for its study of violence against Aboriginal women, in the Spring-Summer of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be granted a travel budget of $42,862 to travel to Brantford, Ontario and Quebec City and Montréal, Quebec for its study of violence against Aboriginal women, in the Spring-Summer of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be granted a travel budget of $2,514 to travel to Maniwaki, Quebec for its study of violence against Aboriginal women, in the Spring-Summer of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted a travel budget of $78,021 to travel to Percé, Grande-Rivière and Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gaspé, Quebec; Deer Lake and Benoit’s Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador; Sydney and Louisbourg, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick, for its study of the snow crab industry in Atlantic Canada and Quebec, in the Spring of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted an operational budget of $80,900 for its study of aquaculture in the Pacific region.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Official Languages be granted a travel budget of $5,442 to travel to Ottawa, Ontario for its study of immigration as a development tool in official language minority communities, in the Spring of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be granted a travel budget of $1,873 to travel to Stratford, Ontario to attend the Canada 3.0 2010 Conference, for its study of emerging and digital media: opportunities and challenges, in May 2010.

 

At 1:43 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
