The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:24 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Shawn Murphy, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Brian Fitzpatrick, Jean-Yves Laforest, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Richard Nadeau, Pierre Poilievre, Marcel Proulx, Yasmin Ratansi, David Sweet and John Williams.

Acting Members present: Anthony Rota for Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

Associate Members present: Harold Albrecht.

Witnesses: Department of Finance: Chris Forbes, Director, Fiscal Policy Division, Economic and Fiscal Policy Branch. Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee commenced consideration of the Public Accounts of Canada 2006.

It was agreed, — That the Eight Report be presented to the House as agreed to by the Committee.

Sheila Fraser and Charles-Antoine St-Jean made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 4:54 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:00 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

The Committee examined its business and a draft report.

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
