The Subcommittee on Public Service Renewal of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 5:40 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Co-Chair, Roy Cullen, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Roy Cullen, Paul Forseth, Robert Lanctôt and Judy Sgro.
In attendance: From the Library of parliament: Jack Stilborn, Analyst, Chantal Collin, Analyst. From the Committees Directorate: Miriam Burke, Clerk of the Subcommittee.
Witnesses: As an Individual: Ercel Baker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Baker Group International Inc.. From the University of Victoria: John L. Fryer, Adjunct Professor, School of Public Administration, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Labour Management Relations in the Federal Public Service (1999-2001). From the Public Policy Forum: David R. Zussman, President. As and Individual: Linda Duxbury, Professor, School of Business, Carleton University, Director of Research, Centre for Research and Education on Women and Work.
Pursuant to a motion of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates adopted November 26, 2002, the Committee commenced a study on "A Modern and Accountable Public Service".
The witnesses made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 6:36 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 6:52 p.m., the sitting resumed.
At 7:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
