The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights will commence public hearings in the Fall 2003 with respect to Bills C-20 and C-22
Ottawa, March 22, 2005 - The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights will commence public hearings in the Fall 2003 with respect to Bills:
C-20, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (protection of children and other vulnerable persons) and the Canada Evidence Act
C-22, An Act to amend the Divorce Act, the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act, the Garnishment, Attachment and Pension Diversion Act and the Judges Act and to amend other Acts in consequence
Organizations and individuals who are interested in submitting a brief (max. 10 pages) are advised to send it to :

Note: We encourage people to e-mail their brief.
Written submissions are to be sent to the Clerk of the Committee no later than the August 22, 2003. The Committee will then select witnesses who will be invited to appear before the Committee. The Committee is hoping to hear from as many groups as it can during the upcoming hearings. Once the Committee has established a list of witnesses, the Clerk will communicate with those selected to appear to provide necessary information concerning dates and times of the Committee’s hearings, the time allowed for presentations, and other details.
The briefs submitted by those not selected will still be distributed to Members of the Committee and will help the Committee in its deliberations.
