Tuesday, November 25, 1997

 

The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment met at

3:20 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 237-C, the Chair, Bob Speller, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: William Blaikie, Sarmite Bulte, Raymonde Folco, Robert Nault, Charlie Penson, Julian Reed, Benoît Sauvageau, Bob Speller.

Other Member present: Bill Graham

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerald Schmitz, Research Officer; Dr. Christopher Maule, Consultant.

Witnesses: From the Business Council on National Issues: Stuart Carre, Senior Associate on Global Trade and Investment; From the Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Don Knoerr,Trade Representative, Jennifer Higginson, Policy Analyst; From the Information and Technology Association of Canada: Norine Heselton, Vice-President, Policy, Douglas Gregory, Senior Advisor, IBM Canada, Ltd.; From the Citizens Concerned About Free Trade: David Orchard, Representative, Marjaleena Repo, National Organizer; Individual: Hon. Pursuant to its Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade (See Minutes of October 23, 1997 – Meeting No. 4), the Sub-Committee resumed its study of the Multilateral Agreement on Investment.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 5:30 o’clock p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
