MONDAY, MAY 25, 1998
The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 4:05 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 237-C of the Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Jean Augustine, Colleen Beaumier, Maud Debien, Raymonde Folco, Gurmant Grewal, Ted McWhinney, Julian Reed, Svend Robinson, Daniel Turp.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerald Schmitz, Research Officer.
Delegation: From Romania: H.E. Emil Constantinescu, President; H.E. Gabriel Gafita, Ambassador of Romania to Canada; H.E. Andrei Gabriel Plesu, Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Sorin Dimitriu, Minister of Privatization; H.E. In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to meet with a delegation from Romania headed by the President, H.E. Emil Constantinescu.
Emil Constantinescu made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 4:50 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
