M-96 Retirement Income Bill of Rights

Motion Text
That, in the opinion of the House, the government should introduce a “Retirement Income Bill of Rights” to recognize the following ideals: (a) that a retirement income system is essential to the well-being of citizens and permanent residents of Canada and the overall health of the Canadian economy; (b) that the Canadian retirement income system is built on a combination of government programs, workplace plans and individual savings; (c) that Canadians have the right to a retirement income system that promotes the goals of transparency, affordability, equity, flexibility, self-reliance, security, and accessibility; and (d) that these principles should be enshrined in a Bill of Rights which shall reflect the respect of Parliament for its constitutional authority and which shall encourage the protection of these principles in Canada.
