M-41 Blood and plasma donations
43rd Parliament, 2nd Session
Motion Text
That, in the opinion of the House, the government should take immediate measures to end the current deferral policy governing blood and plasma donations from gay men, men who have sex with men, and transgender women given the current blood shortages during the COVID-19 crisis and the urgency of obtaining plasma donations for research into prevention and treatment of COVID-19, and Canadian Blood Services, Héma-Québec, and Health Canada should replace the current discriminatory policy with a science and behaviour-based policy that protects the integrity of the Canadian blood supply while treating all potential donors with equal dignity and respect.
