The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met in camera at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Daryl Kramp, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Diane Ablonczy, John Carmichael, Rosane Doré Lefebvre, Hon. Wayne Easter, Ted Falk, Roxanne James, Daryl Kramp, Rick Norlock and Jean Rousseau.

 

Acting Members present: Ted Hsu for Hon. Wayne Easter and Hélène LeBlanc for Randall Garrison.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tanya Dupuis, Analyst; Christine Morris, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of social finance as it relates to crime prevention in Canada.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee Business.
 

It was agreed, — That, regarding the Committee’s study of social finance as it relates to crime prevention in Canada, members shall submit any draft recommendations to the Clerk of the Committee no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015.

 

It was agreed, — That the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness be invited to appear before the Committee, at the first available opportunity following the return of the House in January 2015, to begin the study of Bill C-12, An Act to amend the Corrections and Conditional Release Act, that the committee allocate three (3) total meetings to the study of the bill, including one (1) meeting with six (6) witnesses, three (3) per hour, and that members shall submit lists of requested witnesses to the Clerk of the Committee no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015.

 

At 4:52 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
