The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Diane Ablonczy, Mark Adler, Jay Aspin, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Anne-Marie Day, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, Jim Hillyer, Pat Martin, Hon. Gordon O'Connor and Bernard Trottier.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: André Léonard, Analyst; Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board.

 

Witnesses: Treasury Board Secretariat: Dave Adamson, Deputy Chief Information Officer; Corinne Charette, Chief Information Officer of the Government of Canada; Sylvain Latour, Director, Open Government Secretariat; Stephen Walker, Senior Director, Information Management Decision, Chief Information Officer Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(ii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 13, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the government's open data practices.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

 

At 5:11 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:13 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Bernard Trottier moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 3.

 

At 5:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:16 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee examine the programs and activities of the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB), including how the Board interacts with the private sector to deliver standards development and conformity assessment services, and make recommendations on how the CGSB can be more effective and efficient.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the relevant officials from the Privy Council Office to appear regarding the Report of the Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet to the Prime Minister on the Public Service of Canada for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2014.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
