The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Joyce Bateman, Corneliu Chisu, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Joe Daniel, Yvon Godin, Jacques Gourde, Jamie Nicholls, Manon Perreault, Lise St-Denis and John Williamson.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Krista Campbell, Director General, Strategic Policy Branch. Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency: Kimberley Fairman, Senior Advisor to the President; Yves Robineau, Chief Financial Officer, Director, Corporate Services. Western Economic Diversification Canada: France Guimond, Director General, Operations-Manitoba. Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario: Lucie Perreault, Director, Programs and Corporate Services. Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario: Susan Anzolin, Acting Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Services Branch; Paul Chayer, Manager, Strategic Policy. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 6, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the economic situation of Canada's minority linguistic communities.

Krista Campbell, Kimberley Fairman, France Guimond, Susan Anzolin, Serge Tanguay and Wade Aucoin made statements, and with Lucie Perreault and Hélène Goulet, answered questions.

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
