The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Joyce Bateman, Raymond Côté, Cheryl Gallant, Brian Masse, Hon. Judy Sgro, David Sweet, Dave Van Kesteren and Mark Warawa.

 

Acting Members present: Charlie Angus for Peggy Nash and Peter Braid for Hon. Mike Lake.

 

Other Members present: Annick Papillon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst; Édison Roy-César, Analyst; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the subject matter of clauses 175 to 192 (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation), clauses 239 to 241 (Telecommunications Act), clauses 317 to 368 (Amendments Relating to International Treaties on Trademarks), and clauses 369-370 (Reduction of Governor in Council Appointments) of Bill C-31, An act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures.
 

Steve Anderson, John Lawford and Geoffrey White made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Michel Gérin, Mark Eisen and Janet Fuhrer made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:27 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $4,300, for the Study of subject matter of clauses 175 to 192 (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation), clauses 239 to 241 (Telecommunications Act), clauses 317 to 368 (Amendments Relating to International Treaties on Trademarks), and clauses 369-370 (Reduction of Governor in Council Appointments) of Bill C-31, An act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures be adopted.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
