The Standing Committee on Health met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room C-120 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Libby Davies, Hon. Hedy Fry, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, James Lunney, Dany Morin, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Alexandre Boulerice for Claude Gravelle.

 

Associate Members present: Ed Komarnicki.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Martha Butler, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Psychiatric Association: Roger Bland, Member, Professeur Emeritus, Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta. Canadian Psychological Association: Karen Cohen, Chief Executive Officer. Canadian Pharmacists Association: Janet Cooper, Senior Director, Professional and Membership Affairs; Phil Emberley, Director, Pharmacy Innovation. Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada: Harold Lopatka, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the best practices and federal barriers: practice and training of healthcare professionals.
 

Janet Cooper, Phil Emberley and Harold Lopatka, by teleconference from Edmonton, Alberta, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:43 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:46 a.m., the sitting resumed, Libby Davies having taken the Chair.

 

Karen Cohen and Roger Bland made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:20 a.m., Ben Lobb took the Chair.

 

At 10:33 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:35 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
