The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, Hélène LeBlanc, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: John Barlow, Joan Crockatt, Kirsty Duncan, Mylène Freeman, Hélène LeBlanc, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Pat Perkins, Djaouida Sellah and Susan Truppe.

 

Acting Members present: Gerald Keddy for Joyce Bateman and Chungsen Leung for Joyce Bateman.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst. House of Commons: Michelle Legault, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology: Danniele Livengood, Secretary; Sandra Eix, Member, Outreach & Make Possible Volunteer. Centre for Education and Work: Suzanne Winterflood, Executive Director; Marjorie Marchinko, Senior Adult Learning Specialist. Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives: Kate McInturff, Senior Researcher, National Office. The Carleton University Women in Science and Engineering: Natalie Linklater, Engineering Co-Chair; Rim Khazall, Science Co-Chair.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of women in skilled trades and science, technology, engineering and mathematics occupations.
 

Danniele Livengood, Suzanne Winterflood, Kate McInturff, Natalie Linklater and Rim Kahzall made statements and, with Marjorie Marchinko and Sandra Eix, answered questions.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
