The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, Hélène LeBlanc, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: John Barlow, Joan Crockatt, Kirsty Duncan, Hélène LeBlanc, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Djaouida Sellah and Susan Truppe.

 

Acting Members present: Joyce Bateman for Stella Ambler, Mylène Freeman for Niki Ashton and Pat Perkins for Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst. House of Commons: Julie Geoffrion, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: MVP Strategies: Jackson Katz, PhD, Founder and Director.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 1, 2014 and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 30, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of promising practices to prevent violence against women.
 

Jackson Katz, by videoconference from Atlanta, Georgia, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:08 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 31, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women.
 

It was agreed, — That the analyst include an executive summary in the first draft of the report on the economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women.

 

It was agreed, — That the content of sections 4 and 5 of the document entitled: ‘‘Summary of Evidence: The Economic Leadership and Prosperity of Canadian Women’’, be placed before section 3 in drafting of the report on the economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women.

 

It was agreed, — That the additional points submitted to the analyst be incorporated and underlined in the first draft of the report on the economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women.

 

It was agreed, — That all parties submit their recommendations for inclusion in the draft report of the study on economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women to the Clerk, by 4:00 p.m., on Monday, February 2, 2015.

 

At 12:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
