The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met by teleconference at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 306 The Valour Building, the Chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Colin Carrie, Mylène Freeman, Hon. John McKay, Robert Sopuck and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Stella Ambler for Brian Storseth, Paul Calandra for Colin Carrie, Paul Calandra for Robert Sopuck, Corneliu Chisu for Lawrence Toet, Dan Harris for Dennis Bevington, Hon. Judy Sgro for Hon. John McKay and Rathika Sitsabaiesan for François Choquette.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development: Penny Becklumb, Analyst. Library of Parliament: Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Rouge Park Alliance: Alan Wells, Chair. Regional Municipality of York: Ian Buchanan, Manager, Natural Heritage and Forestry, Environmental Promotion and Protection. Altona Forest Stewardship Committee: Larry Noonan, Chair. Reesor Farm: Jay Reesor. Friends of the Rouge Watershed: Jim Robb, General Manager. David Suzuki Foundation: Faisal Moola, Director General, Ontario and Northern Canada.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 8, 2014 and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, October 20, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-40, An Act respecting the Rouge National Urban Park.
 

Alan Wells, Ian Buchanan and Larry Noonan made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Jay Reesor, Jim Robb and Faisal Moola, by teleconference from Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
