The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 306, The Valour Building, the Chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Dennis Bevington, Colin Carrie, Mylène Freeman, Hon. John McKay, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Stella Ambler for Brian Storseth and Irene Mathyssen for François Choquette.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Food and Consumer Products of Canada: Rachel Kagan, Vice-President, Environmental Sustainability.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 8, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the management of municipal solid waste and industrial materials.
 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on the Environment and Sustainable Development begin a three-meeting study of Bill C-40, An Act respecting the Rouge National Urban Park, beginning on Monday October 27, 2014, that the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment, be invited to appear on October 27 for the first hour and that departmental officials be invited for the second hour, to begin the review of the Bill.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite witnesses to appear in two panels of three witnesses for one hour each during the meetings on Bill C-40, An Act respecting the Rouge National Urban Park, and notwithstanding the Committee's routine motions that each witness be given seven minutes to make their opening remarks.

 

At 5:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
