The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Randy Hoback, Laurin Liu, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Erin O'Toole, Massimo Pacetti and Devinder Shory.

Acting Members present: Guy Caron for Don Davies, David Tilson for Russ Hiebert and Maurice Vellacott for Randy Hoback.

Associate Members present: Maurice Vellacott.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst ; Pascal Tremblay, Analyst.

Witnesses: Aura Minerals Inc.: James Bannantine, President and Chief Executive Officer. Cavendish Farms: Wayne McDonald, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Relations, J.D. Irving Limited; Vincent Taddeo, Vice-President International, International. Canada Pork International: César Urias, Director, Latin America.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, March 31, 2014, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-20, An Act to implement the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the Republic of Honduras, the Agreement on Environmental Cooperation between Canada and the Republic of Honduras and the Agreement on Labour Cooperation between Canada and the Republic of Honduras.

James Bannantine, Vincent Taddeo, Wayne MacDonald and César Urias made statements and answered questions.

At 12:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:33 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the draft report for the Committee’s study of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA), members of the Committee have until Friday, May 9, 2014, to provide direction to the analysts regarding recommendations.

At 12:44 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
