The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Leon Benoit, Blaine Calkins, Joan Crockatt, Marc Garneau, Claude Gravelle, Ryan Leef, Laurin Liu, Jamie Nicholls and Brad Trost.

Acting Members present: Denis Blanchette for Peter Julian.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

Witnesses: As individuals: Stephen Harrison, Professor, Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Queen's University; Michael Edwards, Principal, Fairweather Hill. Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada-Quebec: Daniel Cloutier, National Representative, Energy Quebec, Refinery of Suncor Energy of Montreal. Canadian Propane Association: Jim Facette, President and Chief Executive Officer. Canadian Energy Pipeline Association: Brenda Kenny, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of market diversification in the energy sector.

Stephen Harrison, Michael Edwards, Daniel Cloutier, Jim Facette and Brenda Kenny, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, made statements and answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
