The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room C-160, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Denis Blanchette, Kelly Block, Alexandre Boulerice, Ron Cannan, Jacques Gourde, Pat Martin, Hon. John McCallum, Bernard Trottier and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Brian Jean for Peter Braid, Ève Péclet for Mathieu Ravignat and Stephen Woodworth for Scott Armstrong.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tina Lise LeGresley, Analyst; Alex Smith, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Library of Parliament: Mostafa Askari, Assistant Parliamentary Budget Officer, Economic and Fiscal Analysis, Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer; Jason Jacques, Director, Budget, Estimates and Reporting, Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer; Sahir Khan, Assistant Parliamentary Budget Officer, Expenditure and Revenue Analysis, Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer; Kevin Page, Parliamentary Budget Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(vii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the process for considering the estimates and supply.
 

Kevin Page made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

John McCallum moved, — That the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates, as part of the study of the process for considering the estimates and supply, report the following to the House: “That the Committee is deeply concerned by the decision of the Treasury Board to delay the reports on plans and priorities until the week of May 7, 2012, and to withhold any information about strategic and operating review from those documents”.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 4; NAYS: 6.

 

The Committee resumed consideration of its study of the process for considering the estimates and supply. Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

 

At 5:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
