The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Denis Blanchette, Alexandre Boulerice, Peter Braid, Ron Cannan, Jacques Gourde, Pat Martin, Hon. John McCallum, Mathieu Ravignat, Bernard Trottier and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Brian Jean for Kelly Block.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tina Lise LeGresley, Analyst; Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Public Sector Integrity Canada: Mario Dion, Interim Public Sector Integrity Commissioner.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 111.1(1), the Committee commenced consideration of the certificate of nomination of Mario Dion to the position of Public Sector Integrity Commissioner which was referred to the Committee on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.
 

It was agreed, — That the item “Committee Business” be discussed at 5:00 p.m. rather than 5:15 p.m., and that the discussion take place in camera.

 

Mario Dion made a statement and answered questions.

 

Alexandre Boulerice moved, — That the Committee, as part of its study on the certificate of nomination of Mario Dion to the position of Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, invite the following organizations to appear: Democracy Watch, Canadians for Accountability, and the Federal Accountability Initiative for Reform.

Debate arose thereon.

 

By unanimous consent, the motion was withdrawn.

 

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:01 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
