The Standing Committee on National Defence met in camera at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, James Bezan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Chris Alexander, James Bezan, Corneliu Chisu, Cheryl Gallant, Jack Harris, Matthew Kellway, Hon. John McKay, Christine Moore, Rick Norlock, Ted Opitz and Mark Strahl.

 

Acting Members present: Djaouida Sellah for Tarik Brahmi.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Wolfgang Koerner, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Maintaining the Readiness of the Canadian Forces.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "The State of Readiness of the Canadian Forces".

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House at the earliest opportunity.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report dissenting opinions, provided that they are no more than 10 pages in length and be submitted to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Friday, November 30, 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, issue a news release following the presentation of the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
