The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Aubin, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Ray Boughen, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Yvon Godin, Jacques Gourde, Dan Harris, Costas Menegakis, Élaine Michaud, Bernard Trottier and John Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Brent Rathgeber for John Williamson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by Costas Menegakis which read as follows:

That all Committee business of the Committee be conducted in camera;

and the amendment moved by Dan Harris which read as follows:

That the motion be amended by adding after the words “in camera” the following: “with the consent of at least one member of the opposition or a vote by committee at the start of any sitting of the permanent Committee on official languages where committee business is to be discussed”.

The debate continued.

 

At 9:42 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:50 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

By unanimous consent, on motion of Yvon Godin, it was agreed, — That the debate on the motion and the amendment be adjourned and that the Committee resume planning the study on the Evaluation of the Roadmap: Improving Programs and Service Delivery.

 

At 10:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
