The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:47 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Brad Butt, Chris Charlton, Ryan Cleary, Rodger Cuzner, Ed Komarnicki, Colin Mayes and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Mark Adler for Kellie Leitch, Harold Albrecht for Phil McColeman, Alexandre Boulerice for François Lapointe, Patrick Brown for Phil McColeman, Hon. Michael D. Chong for Kellie Leitch and Ted Opitz for Joe Daniel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Sarah Anson-Cartwright, Director, Skills Policy. As an individual: Martine Lagacé, Associate Professor, Department of Communication, University of Ottawa.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 18, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of opportunities for older persons in the workforce.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Brad Butt moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Patrick Brown, Brad Butt, Michael D. Chong, Colin Mayes, Ted Opitz, Devinder Shory — 6; NAYS: Alexandre Boulerice, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Chris Charlton, Ryan Cleary, Rodger Cuzner — 5.

 

At 12:36 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:36 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 27, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of economic opportunities for young apprentices.
 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Economic Opportunities for Young Apprentices".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 12:48 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
