Meeting No. 42

Monday, June 11, 2012

The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Brad Butt, Chris Charlton, Ryan Cleary, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Ed Komarnicki, François Lapointe, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes and Phil McColeman.

Acting Members present: Bev Shipley for Devinder Shory and John Weston for Devinder Shory.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst ; André Léonard, Analyst.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the amount for the 2012 Centennial Flame Research Award be set at $5,750; that the press release and the application form for the 2012 Centennial Flame Research Award be published on the Committee’s website and that Sunday, October 14, 2012, be set as the deadline to submit applications; and that the Chair and the Clerk be authorized to take means, such as preparing an ad for the Members householders, in order to give the Award some publicity.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 17, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Skills Development in Remote Rural Communities in an Era of Fiscal Restraint.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

At 5:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
