The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Carol Hughes, Ed Komarnicki, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Claude Patry, Manon Perreault and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Harold Albrecht for Kellie Leitch, Chris Alexander for Kellie Leitch, John Carmichael for Kellie Leitch and Andrew Cash for Jean Crowder.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Information and Communications Technology Council: Namir Anani, President and Chief Executive Officer; Sandra Saric, Director, Talent Initiatives. Entertainment Software Association of Canada: Jason Kee, Director, Policy and Legal Affairs. Communitech: Avvey Peters, Vice-President, External Relations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, the Committee resumed its studies of “Fixing the Skills Gap: Addressing Existing Labour Shortages in High Demand Occupations” and “Understanding Labour Shortages: Addressing Barriers to Filling Low-Skilled Jobs”.
 
 

Avvey Peters, Jason Kee and Namir Anani made statements and, with Sandra Saric, answered questions.

 

At 4:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:54 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
