The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Irene Mathyssen, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Stella Ambler, Joyce Bateman, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Mylène Freeman, Roxanne James, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst. House of Commons: Michelle Tittley, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, - That the Fifth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in as amended:

1. That the Committee studies the prospects for Canadian girls with regards to economic prosperity, economic participation and economic leadership, and what changes can be made by Status of Women Canada to its approach to improving them.

2. That a list of suggested witnesses on the above-mentioned study be submitted to the Clerk no later than Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

3. That the Committee invite the Minister for Status of Women and/or the Coordinator/Head of Agency and/or senior officials to appear before the Committee to discuss Main Estimates 2012-2013 and any additional questions that the Committee may have.
 

It was agreed, — That the next meeting be scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, 2012 and that the instructions for the drafting of a report on the study of abuse of older women be provided at that meeting.

 

At 4:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
