The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Bob Dechert, Paul Dewar, Hélène Laverdière, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Ève Péclet, Romeo Saganash, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Dave Van Kesteren and John Williamson.

 

Acting Members present: Jeff Watson for Nina Grewal.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Passport Canada: Christine Desloges, Chief Executive Officer; Lisa Pezzack, Director General, Policy, Research and Communications; Michel Brunette, Director, Resource Management and Compliance. Sudanese Organization for Research and Development: Asha Elkarib, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the Order of Reference from the House on March 29, 2012, the Committee commenced consideration of the Department of Foreign Affairs user fee proposal relating to Passport Canada.
 

Christine Desloges made a statement and, with Lisa Pezzack and Michel Brunette, answered questions.

 

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on democracy and human rights in Sudan.
 

Asha Elkarib made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
