The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in a televised session at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Bob Dechert, Nina Grewal, Jean-François Larose, Hélène Laverdière, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Alexandrine Latendresse for Sadia Groguhé and Jasbir Sandhu for Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

Associate Members present: James Bezan, Hon. Mark Eyking, Hon. Laurie Hawn and Ted Opitz.

 

Other Members present: Kevin Lamoureux.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Borys Tarasyuk; Valentyn Nalyvaichenko; James Sherr; Marcin Swiecicki; Andrei Piontkovsky.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the current situation in Ukraine.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 3:35 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit until 4:00 p.m.

 

At 4:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:25 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Committee resumed consideration of a briefing on the situation in Ukraine.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

 

At 4:27 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit until 4:50.

 

At 4:53 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:16 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Committee resumed consideration of a briefing on the situation in Ukraine.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

 

At 5:49 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
