The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Jean Crowder, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Andrews, Brad Butt, Blaine Calkins, John Carmichael, Jean Crowder, Patricia Davidson, Dean Del Mastro, Earl Dreeshen, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, Colin Mayes and Dany Morin.

 

Acting Members present: Hélène LeBlanc for Charlie Angus.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst; Dara Lithwick, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Dean Del Mastro moved, — That the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics issue a summons for the appearance of Adam Carroll, former employee of the Liberal parliamentary research bureau, to appear before the Committee on Thursday March 15, 2012, in relation to the study of the anonymous use of House of Commons resources against a Member of Parliament; and that if appearing before the Committee would put him at serious risk should he attend, then he and his doctor should attest to the same to the Committee in confidence.

Debate arose thereon.

 

Blaine Calkins moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Brad Butt, Blaine Calkins, John Carmichael, Patricia Davidson, Dean Del Mastro, Earl Dreeshen, Colin Mayes — 7; NAYS: Scott Andrews, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, Hélène LeBlanc, Dany Morin — 4.

 

At 11:06 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:10 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics issue a summons for the appearance of Adam Carroll, former employee of the Liberal parliamentary research bureau, to appear before the Committee on Thursday March 15, 2012, in relation to the study of the anonymous use of House of Commons resources against a Member of Parliament; and that if appearing before the Committee would put him at serious risk should he attend, then he and his doctor should attest to the same to the Committee in confidence.

 

It was agreed, — That, for the week of March 26 -30, 2012, the Committee only meet on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.

 

At 11:36 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
