The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Annick Papillon, Jasbir Sandhu, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Guy Caron for Don Davies.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst; Pascal Tremblay, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Forest Products Association of Canada: Isabelle Des Chênes, Vice-President, Market Relations and Communications. As individuals: Michael Geist, Canada Research Chair, Internet and E-commerce Law, University of Ottawa; Charles McMillan, Professor, International Business, Schulich School of Business, York University; Michael Hart, Professor and Simon Reisman Chair in Trade Policy, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, April 22, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the benefits for Canada of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
 

Michael Geist and Isabelle Des Chênes made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Charles McMillan and Micheal Hart made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:22 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the benefits for Canada of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the proposed budget in the amount of $36,600 be adopted.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
