The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Annick Papillon, Jasbir Sandhu, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Chief, Macroeconomics and Trade.

Witnesses: Carleton University: Laura Macdonald, Professor of Political Science, Director of the Institute of Political Economy. North-South Institute: Pablo Heidrich, Senior Researcher, Governance of Natural Resources program. Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export: Jon G. Baird, Managing Director. University of Ottawa: Carlo Dade, Senior Fellow, School of International Development and Global Studies.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 4, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the benefits for Canada in joining the Pacific Alliance as a full member.

Laura Macdonald and Pablo Heidrich made statements and answered questions.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Jon G. Baird and Carlo Dade made statements and answered questions.

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
