The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ron Cannan, Raymond Côté, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Ève Péclet, Mathieu Ravignat, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Jay Aspin for Bev Shipley and Ryan Cleary for Brian Masse.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst; June Dewetering, Chief, Macroeconomics and Trade.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Cattlemen's Association: John Masswohl, Director, Government and International Relations. International Labor Organization: Nancy A. Donaldson, Director, Washington Office. Nygård International: Patricia Chapdelaine, Executive Vice-President, Operations and Technical Designs; David I. Hudson, Representative, Chairman, Indo-British Garments; Sharon Clarke, Director, Communications and Public Relations.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, March 5, 2012, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 2, 2012, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-23, An Act to implement the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Agreement on the Environment between Canada and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Agreement on Labour Cooperation between Canada and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
 

John Masswohl, Nancy Donaldson, by videoconference from Washington, D.C., and Patricia Chapdelaine, by videoconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, made statements and, with David Hudson, by teleconference from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Sharon Clarke, by videoconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, answered questions.

 

At 12:06 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:11 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee not sit on Thursday, April 5, 2012.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the Trade Commissioner Service.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
