The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Moore, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Tyrone Benskin, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Gordon Brown, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Jim Hillyer, Hon. Rob Moore, Pierre Nantel, Scott Simms and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Kelly Block for Parm Gill.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Métis National Council: Clément Chartier, President. National Association of Friendship Centres: Jeffrey Cyr, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017.
 

Clément Chartier and Jeffrey Cyr made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:13 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:14 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, December 1, 2011, the Committee hear from a government witness during the first hour of the meeting in relation to its study of Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017, and that the Minister of Canadian Heritage appear during the second hour of the meeting in relation to Supplementary Estimates (B) 2011-2012.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, the Committee hear from representatives of the Assembly of First Nations and of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and if they are not available, that the Committee hear from a government witness.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, the Committee meeting be devoted to the planning of future business.

 

At 10:34 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
