The Legislative Committee on Bill C-11 met in a televised session at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Glenn Thibeault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Scott Armstrong, Tyrone Benskin, Peter Braid, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Dean Del Mastro, Pierre Dionne Labelle, Mike Lake, Phil McColeman, Hon. Rob Moore, Pierre Nantel and Hon. Geoff Regan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dara Lithwick, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Jeremy de Beer, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa; Samuel E Trosow, Associate Professor, University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Information and Media Studies; James Gannon, Lawyer, McCarthy Tétrault LLP. Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians: Marc Workman, National Director. Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators: André Cornellier, Chair of the Copyright Committee. Canadian Photographers Coalition: Brian Boyle, Co-President, National.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, February 13, 2012, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-11, An Act to amend the Copyright Act.
 

Jeremy de Beer, Samuel E Trosow and James Gannon, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:08 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Marc Workman, André Cornellier and Brian Boyle made statements and answered questions.

 

At 6:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 6:29 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 6:30 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

It was agreed, — That the Business Coalition for Balanced Copyright be deleted from the list of organisations and individuals invited to appear in relation to Bill C-11, An Act to amend the Copyright Act.

 

At 6:36 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
