The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met by videoconference at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Alex Atamanenko, Pierre Lemieux, Ben Lobb, Larry Miller, LaVar Payne, Jean Rousseau, Frank Valeriote and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Mike Allen for Brian Storseth, Earl Dreeshen for Randy Hoback and Pierre Jacob for Francine Raynault.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Éleveurs de volailles du Québec: Nil Béland, Member, Board of Directors. Potatoes New Brunswick: Joe Brennan, Chairman. Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities: Ray Orb, Vice-President. BC Breeder and Feeder Association : Connie Patterson, Regional Administrator.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on Growing Forward 2 (Business Risk Management Programs).
 

Nil Béland, Joe Brennan and Ray Orb made statements and answered questions.

 

Connie Patterson, by videoconference from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:18 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Pierre Lemieux moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 5.

 

At 5:18, the sitting was suspended.

At 5:18, the sitting resumed in camera.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
