The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Chris Warkentin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Dennis Bevington, Rob Clarke, Linda Duncan, Jonathan Genest-Jourdain, Carol Hughes, LaVar Payne, Greg Rickford, Kyle Seeback, Chris Warkentin and David Wilks.

 

Acting Members present: Jim Hillyer for Ray Boughen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tonina Simeone, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development: Paula Isaak, Director General, Natural Resources and Environment Branch; Stephen Gagnon, Director General, Implementation Branch; Margaret Buist, Director General, Lands and Environmental Management; Andrew Beynon, Director General, Community Opportunities Branch; Kris Johnson, Senior Director, Lands Modernization, Community Opportunities Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Land-Use and Sustainable Economic Development (Briefing : Land Management Boards and Land-Use planning (modern treaties)).
 

Paula Isaak made a statement and, with Stephen Gagnon, answered questions.

 

At 11:54 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Land-Use and Sustainable Economic Development (Briefing on Land Management Programs on Reserves).
 

Andrew Beynon made a statement and, with Margaret Buist and Kris Johnson, answered questions.

 

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
