The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dennis Bevington, Lois Brown, Bonnie Crombie, Roger Gaudet, Brian Jean, Mario Laframboise, Colin Mayes, Merv Tweed, Hon. Joseph Volpe and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Andrew Kania for Sukh Dhaliwal and Bruce Stanton for Blake Richards.

 

Associate Members present: Gerard Kennedy.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst; Jean Dupuis, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Human Rights Commission: Jennifer Lynch, Chief Commissioner; Charles Théroux, Director, Research and Statistical Analysis Division; Monette Maillet, Director, Policy Division. Air Canada Pilots Association: Paul Strachan, President; Barry Wiszniowski, Chair, Technical and Safety Division; Tim Manuge, Chair, Security Committee. Air Line Pilots Association, International: Al Ogilvie, Representative, Government Affairs; Dan Adamus, President, Canada Board.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on March, 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Aviation Safety and Security - Security Concerns.
 

Jenifer Lynch made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:51 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on March, 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Aviation Safety and Security - Safety Management Systems for the Aviation Industry.
 

Paul Strachan, Tim Manuge, Barry Wiszniowski and Dan Adamus made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
