The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Kevin Sorenson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Don Davies, Roger Gaudet, Andrew Kania, Ben Lobb, Dave MacKenzie, Phil McColeman, Alexandra Mendes, Maria Mourani, Rick Norlock and Kevin Sorenson.

 

Acting Members present: Claude Bachand for Roger Gaudet, Jacques Gourde for Brent Rathgeber and Alan Tonks for Mark Holland.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tanya Dupuis, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Border Services Agency: Stephen Rigby, President; Cathy Munroe, Vice President, Programs Branch; Sylvain St-Laurent, Vice-President, Comptrollership Branch. Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce: Garry Douglas, President and Chief Executive Officer. Leahy Orchards Inc.: Barry Orr, Border Customs Compliance Manager. Customs and Immigration Union: Ron Moran, National President; Jean-Pierre Fortin, First National Vice-President. Drummondville Economic Development Society: Martin Dupont, Chief Administrative Officer. As an individual: Réal Pelletier, Mayor, City of St-Armand.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of the changes to the services offered by the Canada Border Services Agency.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
