The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 1:10 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Russ Hiebert, Wayne Marston, Scott Reid, Mario Silva and David Sweet.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Judy Sgro for Hon. Irwin Cotler and Thierry St-Cyr for Jean Dorion.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Melissa Radford, Analyst; Christine Kostiuk, Analyst. House of Commons: Michelle Tittley, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the meeting of Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in relation to Human Rights in Iran with Dr. Shirin Ebadi be televised.

 

It was agreed, — That the evidence and documentation by the Subcommittee on International Human Rights during the Second Session of the 40th Parliament in relation to its study of the Universal Periodic Review be taken into consideration by the Subcommittee in this session.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee hear testimony from representatives of the Nathalie Morin support committee.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee take advantage of the forthcoming travel schedule of Luis Arriaga, s. j. – a preeminent Mexican jurist and Director of the Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez Human Rights Center in Mexico– and call him as a witness for the scheduled meeting of Tuesday, May 11, 2010.

 

At 1:43 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
