MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 7

Thursday, April 1, 2010

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in camera at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Richard M. Harris, Hon. Geoff Regan, Devinder Shory and Alan Tonks.

Acting Members present: Guy André for Claude Guimond and Cheryl Gallant for Russ Hiebert.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst ; Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, the Chair request the opportunity to tour the MAPLES facilities as part of the Committee visit to Chalk River, this to be accomplished by working with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited to amend the draft program for the visit.

It was agreed, — That, the Committee commence its study of the Status of the ecoENERGY programs on April 15 and continue these hearing on April 20 and April 22, 2010.

It was agreed, — That, the Committee commence consideration of its draft report on the Status of the NRU Reactor and the Supply of Medical Isotopes on April 27, 2010.

It was agreed, — That, additional meetings on the study of the Status of the ecoENERGY programs resume following the adoption of the draft report on the Status of the NRU Reactor and the Supply of Medical Isotopes.

It was agreed, — That, the Committee hold a total of five public meetings on the Status of the ecoENERGY programs.

It was agreed, — That the evidence received by the Standing Committee on Natural Resources in relation to its study of the Atomic Energy Canada Limited Facility at Chalk River and the Status of the Production of Medical Isotopes during the 2nd Session of the 40th Parliament, be deemed adduced by the Committee in the current session.

At 10:25 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
