The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Joe Preston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Claude DeBellefeuille, Judy Foote, Randy Hoback, Mario Laframboise, Tom Lukiwski, Joe Preston, Marcel Proulx, Yasmin Ratansi, Scott Reid and Rodney Weston.

 

Acting Members present: David Christopherson for Yvon Godin and Pierre A. Paquette for Mario Laframboise.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nicolas Auclair, Analyst; Andre Barnes, Analyst; Michel Bédard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: House of Commons: Hon. Michael D. Chong, P.C., M.P., Wellington—Halton Hills.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 6, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of conventions concerning Question Period in the House of Commons raised by motion number M-517 of the Hon. Michael Chong, Wellington—Halton Hills.
 

Hon. Michael D. Chong made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:46 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 12:46 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure meet on Thursday, November 4, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to discuss the future business of the Committee and that the Standing Committee meet on the same day from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. to continue its study of the recommendations of the Chief Electoral Officer concerning the Elections Canada Act.

 

At 12:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
