The Standing Committee on National Defence met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, the Hon. Maxime Bernier, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Hon. Maxime Bernier, Ray Boughen, Peter Braid, Cheryl Gallant, Jack Harris, Hon. Laurie Hawn and LaVar Payne.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Ken Dryden for Marcel Proulx, Raymonde Folco for Hon. Bryon Wilfert, Richard Nadeau for Pascal-Pierre Paillé and Hon. Geoff Regan for Hon. Dominic LeBlanc.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Wolfgang Koerner, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Alan Williams, former Assistant Deputy Minister (Materiel), Department of National Defence.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the next generation of fighter aircraft.
 

Laurie Hawn moved, — That this committee invite Mr. Dan Ross, Assistant Deputy Minister for Material for the Department of National Defence, to appear as the only witness on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m..

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 4.

 

Alan Williams made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
