The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Steven Blaney, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Steven Blaney, Sylvie Boucher, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Bernard Généreux, Shelly Glover, Yvon Godin, Monique Guay, Richard Nadeau, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon, John Weston and Lise Zarac.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst; Nicolas Auclair, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages: Graham Fraser, Commissioner; Carole Beauvais, Director, Security and Transport Portfolio, Investigations; Lise Cloutier, Assistant Commissioner, Corporate Services Branch; Ghislaine Charlebois, Assistant Commissioner, Compliance Assurance Branch; Pierre Coulombe, Director, Social and Cultural Portfolio, Strategic Performance Measurement; Sylvain Giguère, Assistant Commissioner, Policy and Communications Branch; Louise Goneau, Assistant Director, Audit, Compliance Assurance Branch; Colette Lagacé, Director, Finance and Procurement; Marthanne Robson, Assistant Director , Investigations Professional Practice; Johane Tremblay, Lead Counsel and Director, Legal Affairs Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2010-2011: Vote 20 under PRIVY COUNCIL referred to the Committee on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
 

The Chair called Vote 20 under PRIVY COUNCIL.

 

Graham Fraser made a statement and, with Lise Cloutier, Colette Lagacé and Ghislaine Charlebois, answered questions.

 

Vote 20 under PRIVY COUNCIL carried.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair report Vote 20 under PRIVY COUNCIL to the House.

 

At 10:01 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:04 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the investigation process of the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages.
 

Ghislaine Charlebois and Marthanne Robson made statements and, with Louise Goneau, answered questions.

 

At 10:55 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
