The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 4:15 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Hedy Fry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Lois Brown, Nicole Demers, Luc Desnoyers, Hon. Hedy Fry, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville and Michelle Simson.

 

Acting Members present: Peter Braid for Paul Calandra and Patrick Brown for Alice Wong.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool; Sandra Gruescu.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, April 12, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of maternal and child health.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 4:43 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of violence against Aboriginal women, the proposed budget in the amount of $145,747, for the Committee’s travel to Vancouver, Penticton, Port McNeill and Williams Lake, British Columbia; Whitehorse, Yukon and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories in Summer-Fall 2010 be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of violence against Aboriginal women, the proposed budget in the amount of $103,187, for the Committee’s travel to Edmonton, Alberta; Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan; Winnipeg, Manitoba and Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay, Ontario in Summer-fall 2010 be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee.

 

At 4:48 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
