The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Cathy McLeod, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Lois Brown, Paul Calandra, Nicole Demers, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville, Michelle Simson and Alice Wong.

 

Acting Members present: Johanne Deschamps for Luc Desnoyers and Marc Garneau for Hon. Hedy Fry.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Federation for Sexual Health: Jolanta Scott-Parker, Executive Director. Fédération du Québec pour le planning des naissances: Ainsley Jenicek, Project Manager. International Confederation of Midwives: Bridget Lynch, President. International Planned Parenthood Federation: Pierre La Ramée, Director, Development and Public Affairs, Western Hemisphere Region. Regroupement Naissance-Renaissance: Lorraine Fontaine, Coordinator, Political Issues.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, April 12, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of maternal and child health.
 

Jolanta Scott-Parker, Ainsley Jenicek, Bridget Lynch and Lorraine Fontaine made statements and, with Pierre La Ramée, answered questions.

 

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:26 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of Status of Women Canada funding decisions, the proposed budget in the amount of $6,600 be adopted.

 

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
