The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met by teleconference at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 268 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Johanne Deschamps, Jean Dorion, Peter Goldring, James Lunney, Bernard Patry, Glen Douglas Pearson and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Michel Guimond for Jean Dorion, Peter Julian for Paul Dewar, Hon. Anita Neville for Hon. Bob Rae and Alice Wong for Deepak Obhrai.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: David-Andrés Novoa, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Honduran Centre for the Promotion of Community Development: Pedro Landa, Coordinator. Amnesty International: Alex Neve, Secretary General. Committee of Relatives of the Detained and Disappeared in Honduras: Bertha Oliva, General Coodinator. Honduran Women's Collective: Maria Luisa Regalado, General Coordinator. York University: Craig Scott, Professor of Law, Osgoode Hall Law School.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, the Committee met with the Canadian Council for International Co-operation concerning the situation in Honduras.
 

Alex Neve, Bertha Oliva, Maria Luisa Regalado, by teleconference from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Pedro Landa and Craig Scott made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
